Country of Origin

We want to provide our customers with high-quality products, at a great value. To ensure customer satisfaction, we look for manufacturers who combine the key elements of technical ability, quality, price, and delivery speed.

We manufacture our products in a wide range of countries and this has expanded over the years as different countries have emerged as market leaders in high-quality manufacturing processes. These include the UK, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Romania, Ukraine, Tunisia, Vietnam, India, China, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka.

We understand how important fair labour practices are to our customers. Therefore, when we consider a new manufacturer or indeed review the performance of an existing manufacturer we have a number of factors to take into consideration. We use a wide range of sources of information including visits, local agents, and feedback from other retailers using that site to ensure that each manufacturer meets our standards. New information occasionally becomes available and we have to review our decisions, but to the best of our knowledge, we always operate within fair and ethical practices.

Independent 3rd party audits are requested annually from all the factories where we manufacture our products. You are able to access Charles Tyrwhitt’s’ Modern Slavery Statement and Ethical Trading Policy in the legal section on our website.

The Far East uses the most modern technologies and efficiencies; they have some of the best facilities in the world for producing Non-Iron shirts.

  • The majority of our shoes are made in India (through a UK manufacturer) and Portugal, our luxury range is made in England.
  • Luxury ties and pocket squares are made in England and Italy.
  • Cashmere scarves are made in Scotland.
  • Luxury suits, jackets, and overcoat fabrics are British or Italian.
  • All of our belts from the Spring/Summer 21 range will be made in England and Spain.

Unfortunately, investment in infrastructure and training has not been maintained sufficiently in UK manufacturing. We wish it had! If we could make everything in the UK whilst maintaining our quality level and competitive pricing, we would.

Quite the opposite; we believe our quality has improved across all products. We required our factories to produce products to a very strict Quality Control procedure and have a team of people in place to monitor this before items are sent to our customers.
